Become a Tax Auditor for The Comptroller's Office

Make a living while creating the life you want.

Enjoy a dynamic career as a tax auditor for the Texas Comptroller without sacrificing your work/life balance. Get the benefits of flexible working hours and a generous holiday schedule that allows you extra time for yourself, your family and your personal goals.

Flexible schedules allow you to enjoy work/life balance.

With our hybrid office/telework schedules, you’ll work eight hours a day, five days a week, and enjoy your weekends, free and clear! Convert our salary into a dollar-per-hour rate to compare with the salaries offered by large private companies where you may be required to work 50- to 60-hour workweeks, and you’ll find our dollar-per-hour rate at a minimum matches, and perhaps even exceeds, what they offer.

Diverse professional experiences keep your career fresh and relevant.

We offer the opportunity to work with a wide array of businesses and industries. From auditing companies that produce potato chips to those that manufacture semi-conductor chips, you’ll work with them all, without putting in extra time at the office or spending precious time away from your life at home.

What are your responsibilities as a tax auditor for the Comptroller’s office?

You will be in a position of public trust that requires a high degree of confidentiality in handling all taxpayer records, services, audits and/or transactions.

You’ll examine their accounting records, ensuring legal compliance with state tax statutes and administrative rules and regulations. Auditors work independently and are in charge of their own planning and scheduling.
