Comal County led regional gains during this period at 60.7 percent. Thirteen of the region’s 19 counties gained population during the past 10 years.
Alamo region employment rose by 22.1 percent between 2012 and 2022, close with statewide growth. The most concentrated regional industries include jobs in hunting and trapping, pipeline transportation of natural gas, support activities for mining and national security. These industries have a high location quotient (LQ). An LQ of 1.25 or higher indicates the industry is highly concentrated and unique to the regional economy. Warehousing and storage industry led regional job growth, increasing by 294 percent between 2012 and 2022.
The number of jobs in the Alamo Region increased 22.1%, in Texas 23.5% and in the U.S. 13.9%.
