The University of Texas at San Antonio is only one of a handful of colleges and universities in the nation designated as a Center for Academic Excellence in all National Security Agency focus areas, which include cyber operations, cyber defense and research. As a national leader in both cybersecurity education and research, UTSA is at the forefront of increasing and strengthening the cybersecurity workforce to face global security challenges.
UTSA is uniquely positioned to advance the nation in cyber research and workforce development, as construction begins on the National Security Collaboration Center, a hub for cyber activity in the region and various federal and industry partners; it will also address critical workforce needs. There are more than 1 million vacant cybersecurity positions worldwide, and given current trends, the number of unfilled cybersecurity jobs will reach 3.5 million by 2021.
