“The 86th Legislature passed House Bill 2826, which has been signed into law by the Governor. The law transfers the statutory review duties for contingent fee legal services contracts subject to Chapter 2254 of the Texas Government Code from the Comptroller’s office to the Office of the Attorney General, effective September 1, 2019.
As the Comptroller’s office will no longer be legally authorized to review contingent fee legal services contract submissions once the law takes effect on Sunday, September 1, 2019, and to permit adequate time for internal review and approval, the deadline for document submission for Comptroller review is 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2019. The Comptroller’s office will use best efforts to approve all legally compliant submissions received prior to the effective date. If you have any questions regarding submissions prior to the deadline, please contact contracts@cpa.texas.gov.
Please email the Office of the Attorney General at LCFcontracts@oag.texas.gov for information on the new forms and procedure for submission and review of contingent fee legal services contracts to the Office of the Attorney General after September 1, 2019.”
