In 2019, the Comptroller’s office funded Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi to conduct an ecosystem assessment in Matagorda Bay to inform the conservation of imperiled, threatened and endangered species. The overall goals of this assessment are to: (1) inform the development of conservation strategies for endangered sea turtles; and (2) explore potential conservation strategies and priority areas for bird species of interest concerning potential impacts from flooding and sea level rise.
