Tuition Equalization Grant (TEG)

Available to eligible students with financial need, who are enrolled at a private non-profit Texas college or university and are required to pay more tuition than they would pay to attend a public institution.

Additional Eligibility requirements:

  • Be classified by the institution as a Texas resident
  • Be enrolled at least 3/4 time in an eligible institution in Texas in a degree plan leading to a first associate, baccalaureate, master's or doctoral degree (excluding degree plans that are intended to lead to religious ministry)
  • Meet all academic program requirements
  • Have financial need, as determined by institution
  • May be required to pay more tuition than is required at a comparable public institution
  • Be registered for Selective Service or be exempt

For the 2023-2024 academic year, an eligible student may receive an award in the amount of $3,873 per year.

An eligible undergraduate student w/exceptional financial need (defined as a student with am Expected Family contribution, less than or equal to $1000 for the year) may receive up to $5,810 per year.
