Doctors save lives, I dream of becoming an oncologist one day. From a very young age I was asked the infamous question "what do you want to be when you grow up?" My mother is a school counselor; hence I have been exposed to many different career options. The idea of helping others and touching lives is incredible.

I believe that the field of medicine is my calling. I love helping people. I want to give back to society and make a positive impact in the lives of others.

I realize being a doctor is a big responsibility and requires many years of training. God willing, I will accelerate my studies by completing my Associate's Degree by the time I graduate high school. Currently I have two schools in mind, University of Texas in Austin or Baylor University. I have tried my very best to apply myself in my academics because I have researched the requirements needed to be admitted. I feel I excel in math and science, which are very important subjects in this field. After I receive my Bachelor's Degree I will continue onto Medical School and later specialize in oncology. In 2016 there were approximately 714,000 jobs with an average salary of $208,000according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics Occupational Outlook Handbook. The projected growth for the need of physicians and surgeons is expected to grow by 15% over the next 10 years.

Worldwide we continue to fight the battle against cancer. I want to be able to fight along with other doctors to help find a cure. I realize that in order to achieve my dream it will require time, dedication, and financial resources. I am humbled and grateful to have received this scholarship last school year. I appreciate your consideration in my education and future dream of becoming an oncologist.
