It is hard when young to know what path to take. Even now I have to make choices that seem epic. So, knowing what I want to study and eventually be when I grow up seems big. Last year I really felt like ART was the path for me. My mom (who passed away) was an artist by being an actor. My dad is a graphic artist. So, maybe it is natural for me to want to study art. But, their art is not my art.
This year was the first year I could pick an elective at school. I knew art would be the one thing above all others I would want to take. I am learning there is a lot more to art then drawing and painting. This year we get to do things like wood sculptures and learn about artists and their techniques. There is so much more to learn about art. A family friend went off to college to study photography this year. I talked to her before writing this to learn more about college and what goes on. She told me about her math classes, and writing classes and tons of others that did not sound like art. But, I learned that to be a good artist you better have math abilities so you can sell and manage your money. You need to have history so you can know about the greats prior and maybe become the new great. You need to be able to read and write on a high level so you can be a businesswoman in the world of art.
Although being young and making a choice is hard, I think art is the path for me. I enjoy making art, looking at art, and learning about art.
