Nathan – future NFL sports broadcaster

"Give them six!" That is what my dad says on the radio when a local high school team scores a touchdown. One day, I want to be a sports broadcaster like my dad for the NFL. See, I love any sport and already know more about players and teams than most people from watching, playing, and reading all I can about teams and players.

To be a sports broadcaster, you need to have a bachelor's degree and experience. Beginning to call football games with my dad on the radio will help me to have experiences as I get older. I will also need to study broadcasting journalism and communications in college. As part of college, you need to be in an internship to receive hands-on training in broadcasting. It's not just about playing sports. You must also know the rules and history of sports. To move up in this field, time has to be spent as a reporter and in production.

If I want to work for a specific team as a broadcaster, I will need a college degree. I also need to have professional communication and speaking abilities.

From research I did on this career last year, I have learned that the field of sports broadcasting will decline. I still want to follow my dream and become a sports broadcaster for the NFL. With sports teams, there will always be a need for broadcasters. In school I've been taking theatre arts which will help as I work with my dad and learn to call football games. I have learned how to better present myself to an audience and speak with others.

One day, you will hear me on Sunday or Monday Night Football saying, "Give them six!"
