Hello my name is Marko, one career that im looking forward to when I grow up is to be a paramedic.
Paramedics are healthcare professionals who save peoples lifes daily in their time of need. EMT's and paramedics both work indoors and outdoors, in all types of weather. This career choice is perfect because I work quick on my feet and I love helping people in need.
My career cluster is Human Services and some related jobs I have in mind are Coast Guard, Police Office, firefighter and the FBI. As you can see these jobs all have one thing in common. They all have to do with saving lives and that's what I want to do when I grow up.
My Entry wage hourly would be $12.4 and Annually would be $26,910. This would work perfect with my planned lifestyle.
For this career those who want to become an EMT/Paramedics can take an emergency medical technology program at college, which usually lasts up to two years.
The college I will try to attend is The Austin Community College.
But in order to get there you must…
First Training. Formal training is necessary to become an EMT or Paramedic. Programs are offered by police, fire, and health department. Although requirements vary, applicants must generally be 18 years old and have a high school diploma or the equivalent a drivers license and CPR certification. EMT-Basic requires the student to complete a program that includes between 100 and 150 hours of classroom work, depending on the state.
Those who want to become EMT-Paramedics can take an emergency medical technology program at college which usually lasts up to two years. Graduates of these programs earns an associates degree in applied science. After completing the degree, graduates can take the state or NREMT exam and become certified as an EMT-Paramedic. I have another career in mind but I'll have to wait till next year for that.
