My name is Katelyn. With high school approaching I am beginning to think more as what career I'd like to pursuit in the future. My family and I have been challenged with medical conditions that have needed the guidance of many doctors to deal easier with our conditions. Needless to say, I would like to be a doctor. It doesn't stop to amaze me how medicine can change lives for the better. It is amazing how the hard work, knowledge and dedication of certain doctors can make a difference in somebody's life. I enjoy watching television shows like Investigation Discovery where it involves medicine and the steps it takes to diagnose patients. One specific field that interests me is obstetrician/gynecologist. Ob /Gyn is someone who works with childbirth and can also perform surgeries to improve women's health. I know this career can take up to 8 years and I would also have to do 4 years of residency where I will put to practice what I learn. The 4 years of residency will prepare me so that I can do private practice one I'm done. It seems like 12 years is a long time, but in the end it will be rewarding. Helping my future patients find an accurate diagnosis and helping them bring new life into this world will be price less. I have been looking at different college options, I believe Texas A &M is where I would like to go as they offer one of the best medical programs. I know with hard work and dedication I can achieve my goals and one day become Dr. Katelyn.
