What I Want To Be When I Grow Up

Last year, when I applied for the Texas Match the Promise Scholarship, I wrote an essay about wanting to become a baker and own a small business. I've been thinking a lot about this and I haven't been able to get the idea out of my head. The longer I think about it the better the idea seems to me. When my mom told me I should write another essay for this year's scholarship, I didn't even have to think about it! I knew what I wanted to be!

I would call it Mo's Bakery. I've always loved to bake with my granny. We would make cookies, lemon squares, brownies, pretty much everything you could ever think of! She is the best cook I've ever known! She would make me feel special whenever she cooked something just for me! She passed away this year, but I haven't quit baking. It doesn't feel like it used to, but I know she would be proud of me that I keep on baking!

My dream school is Texas A&M. My cousin graduated with a business degree from there. I would get one too, so my business would be well taken care of, and I would know how to manage my bakery successfully. I would also like to train as pastry chef and study culinary arts.

My Granny and Paw-Paw are the main reasons I love to bake. They always made me feel really special and loved. I want to make people feel the way I did, special and loved. My bakery would sell coffee, tea, pastries, and little sandwiches. I would make my bakery feel like home. A place where people loved to go to.

I hope I'll make my grandparents proud by sharing the love they gave to me through baking.
