When I graduate from college I want to be a wedding planner because millions of people get married each year and need someone to help them. In addition, it would be interesting and exciting to see all of the ideas in your head come together into one amazing event. It would also be rewarding to help make an average day special for many people.

As a wedding planner you would get to work with a lot of different people such as photographers and decorators as well as get to work at many different venues, from the highest mountain top to the prettiest beach bay. Being a wedding planner would be the main focus but I would also gain the skills to do other types of events such as baby showers and holiday parties.

Generally you need to be a good entrepreneur to become a wedding planner because you need to be very good at selling and budgeting. You must also be very organized, be able to work closely with people, and able to plan ahead. You gain experience mostly on the job but there are many classes in college that allow you to gain business experience. I feel it would be better to go to a business school to gain the expertise to run my business.

An average wedding planner's annual salary is about $44,260. Approximately 2.3 million couples hire a wedding planner each year and pay anywhere from $2,000 to $120,000. There are approximately 50,000 wedding planners in the U.S. which clearly is not enough to serve the number of couples getting married.

To learn more about this profession, I researched online, talked with my parents and family, and found some business schools to attend for this opportunity.
