Two years ago, I wrote about wanting to be a dancer or a designer, and since then I have done many things to expand my knowledge of dance and design. In 2014, I joined a pre- professional ballet school that critiques me at every chance to accomplish perfection. I am being trained in the proper technique, and I'm learning self-discipline from it. I take ballet class Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday on a normal basis. I take a modern class as well on Tuesday. I also have a ballet Pilates class on Thursday. I recently was in the Nutcracker ballet performance, and I will be performing in a ballet called Snow White in April. In the summer of 2015, I went to a dance intensive in Malibu, CA, with US Performing Arts. It was a week-long modern style dance intensive, including preparing me for auditions and stage presence. In August 2016, I am planning to go to a ballet intensive in Paris, France, to study ballet from many guest artists and instructors. During the school year, I also take advanced dance, along with all pre-advanced placement classes.
This past summer I also went to a week-long design camp at Texas Tech University that taught me how to sew, sketch clothing, and measure people. I also take technical theatre at school, which includes making costumes for the school performances, as well as doing their hair and makeup. When I go to Paris, for the ballet intensive, I am staying two weeks to explore their architectural design and their major fashion influences. I enjoy both dance and design so much and am excited about where my future will lead!
