It is my dream to become a pediatric nurse practitioner when I grow up. I was introduced to this idea of a pediatric nurse practitioner from my sister who is currently a nurse practitioner. A nurse practitioner is a nurse who is qualified to treat patients without the direct supervision of a doctor. I would like to work in pediatrics to someday be a tiny human's hero.
To accomplish my goal, I need to achieve a doctoral degree in nursing with a pediatric focus. I must also have my registered nurse license and two to five years of experience. To get started on my long educational journey, I am currently taking Principles of Health Science and I will continue to take the classes that follow this endorsement. I am in five pre-advanced courses and am making very good grades while juggling many extracurricular activities. As stated in the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the demand for nurses is expected to grow about 19 percent between 2012 and 2022, giving me a high chance of finding a full time job quickly after graduating college.
According to globalissues.org, about 21,000 children die every day around the world, which is equivalent to one child dying every four seconds. I would like to change this estimate for the better. My goal is to save lives and heal families. I understand that it will take a lot of hard work and dedication to achieve such a high goal, but I am willing to do anything to see a big smile on a child's face.
