Hello, my name is Mia. I have always been on the honor roll since kindergarten. I am the youngest of three children and the only girl in my family. I think school is important, especially for girls, because it increases likelihood for success; it helps students discover their talents, and allows girls to be able to support themselves.
In order to succeed you must have a solid education. You must continue learning to have a full, productive life. My parents believe in continuing education and both plan to attend school throughout their lives. For example, my dad is getting a masters degree and my mother is getting certified to teach various classes in the fitness field. I plan to also continue my education throughout my life because there is always a use for knowledge.
Education helps kids learn about themselves. They could discover talents to develop to use in the future. I discovered that I am good at science and math in school. I plan to grow my skills in science and math. Hopefully, those skills will lead to a career. I wish to have a career that I am good at and that I enjoy.
With a good education I can support myself and others. With the income I earn from work I could purchase a home, donate to causes I think are important, or even travel the world. I can set a good example for others, especially little girls. Girls need to be more than a pretty face. I need to be an example to show that girls can accomplish anything. I could be a positive member of the community. I plan on improving the heath in my community by being a doctor to those who are poor.
I am thankful that I have the opportunity to go college using the Texas Promise Fund. Without programs like this it would be very difficult for my parents to pay for all 3 kids in my family to go to college. I am glad I get to help my parents by applying to the Match the Promise Scholarship. I hope I am considered for the scholarship. I plan to put it to good use.
