My name is Madeline and when I graduate from high school I would like to pursue a career in Music Education. Specifically, I want to be a band director. I am interested in this field because a huge chunk of my life consists of music. I'm quite good at it and I really enjoy it. To be a band director I would need to go to a college that provides an opportunity for me to get a Bachelor of Music degree and I would major in Music Education. I would be able to teach a band, orchestra, or choir with a Music Education degree. In addition, I would take other classes such as Music Theory, Music History, Aural Skills, Primary Lessons, Secondary Lessons, Music History, Music Education, and Methods. In addition, I would need to be in the college marching band to teach a band. Ever since I was interested in being a band director I have spoken with several band directors about their experiences with college. I asked them where they went, what classes they took, and why they were originally interested in becoming a band director. I have also looked on the internet for different colleges providing the classes I would need to take. Music is a big influence in my life. It is something I want to continue making and be surrounded by no matter where I am. Having a career in Music Education gives me an opportunity to fulfill those wishes. Pursuing a degree in music is something that can definitely help me in my future.
