I'm not a perfectionist about most things. My room gets messy, my hair is never straight, and my clothes are definitely never matching! But my food has to look its all-time best. As I always say, food that looks good tastes good, most of the times it does anyway.
When I was three or four years old all I wanted for Christmas was a cooking set. Food is a passion that burns in my heart. Food always seems to bring families together and makes a difference in people's lives.
To become a world class chef you need to go to the best culinary arts school and earn a bachelor's degree. Other than schooling and practice you need a thick skin, for there are always tough critics that no matter what you do you can never impress.
Other steps that I have taken to learn about this career are a few cooking classes I have taken, because I love learning ways to make my art tasty and visually pleasing. The opportunities in this field are slim but rewarding if you succeed. The percentage of restaurants that fail are more than the restaurants that stay open, which has taught me that I must work hard to stay in the game.
After I graduate from college and fulfill my dream of becoming a chef I plan to open my own restaurant and name it, “Katie's Apron”. It will be a restaurant that has good food and a fun atmosphere.
