My Dream Career

Kaitlynn | future veterinarian

Hello, my name is Kaitlynn. Being a vet has been my dream since I was little. I would love to pursue this as a future career. To me it seems to be such a rewarding career to help others by helping their pets. I, myself have loved pets for as long as I can remember and would like nothing more than to help animals that are in need. It would push me to learn as much as I can because it is not an easy career to pursue. I will have to work hard in school to achieve my goal.

For this career I will need to complete a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at an accredited college of veterinary medicine. This program will generally take 4 years to complete and will include classroom, laboratory, and clinical work. I will then need to attain a license to practice veterinary medicine. I would then like to complete a non-mandatory but helpful internship to gain experience before hopefully starting my own practice.

There are many opportunities in this career field in the future because this field is growing rapidly with the increasing pet population. It is growing at a pace high above the pace of an average career field. Because there are only about 2500 veterinary graduates yearly there will be plenty of job opportunities even in the future. I will complete all of the steps necessary to achieve my goals and pursue this career as it is my passion.
