A Career To A Bright Future

The future looks bright and I’m getting to it! That is why I have set my eyes on going to college and have a career in accounting. I want to become an accountant. I believe I will enjoy doing this job in the future as I have always been interested in working with numbers. More importantly, I like to help people be successful in their finances. Successful people help the community and I want to be a part of that process.

To be an accountant, I need to have a minimum four years of bachelor's degree in accounting. When I earn the degree, I plan on becoming a certified public accountant (CPA). I have to pass the CPA exam first and meet various requirements before I can be a CPA. Being a CPA will give me more options for jobs and more chances for advancement. I can work anywhere from the government, to accounting firms to private businesses like banks, hospitals, restaurants, TV networks, airlines, etc., or can start my own practice; the possibilities are endless.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics website states that employment opportunities for accountants will grow by 16% through 2020, as fast as the average for all occupations because of economic growth around the world.

To learn about this career, I asked my parents and my mom's friend who is a CPA for information. I have also visited websites such as kids.org, bls.gov and Texas State Board of Public Accountancy.

I value the advice my parents gave me- follow your heart and you will succeed. I am going to do what I love and will put my heart and effort into it and hopefully, I will realize my dreams of becoming an accountant someday.
