Why I Want to be a Computer Programmer

Cameron | future computer programmer

I am interested in becoming a computer programmer because I like using computers and can already design simple programs. I have been interested in computers since I was about two years old. I am currently taking an advanced Android programming class and it comes easily to me. I think I can design helpful or entertaining programs that people will want to buy.

To be a computer programmer, I will need a bachelor's degree in computer science. In high school, I will take programming classes and do well in math. According to the occupational outlook handbook, "employment of software developers is projected to grow 30 percent from 2010 to 2020, much faster than the average for all occupations." Some of the fields a software developer could work in are game design, application development, healthcare, cybersecurity, and systems development. I am mostly interested in game design.

To learn more about this career, I went to www.bls.gov and found the page for software developers. Then I read the information and used it to understand the career. My uncle and grandfather are also working in this occupation and I learned some information from them. I also learned about it from my magnet middle school. In addition, I am hoping to go to a magnet high school that specializes in technology.

In conclusion, I want to be a computer programmer because I enjoy designing games. I like playing video games and want to learn how to program my own. I already know a lot about programming and want to learn even more.
