Energy is Good for Texas
Workforce training and education are important in supporting the expanding energy industry in Texas. In 2022, there were 936,477 energy jobs in Texas, a 6.3 percent increase from 2021. Education for energy-related occupations is available statewide at Texas community colleges, public universities and technical colleges.

Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) offers training opportunities on topics like transmission systems operations, wholesale market operations and retail market operations, as well as development programs for hands-on experience and internships.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) provides more than 28,000 active licenses. The agency issues the most licenses for Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Management and Employee Level Certification renewals, with 11,210 active licenses in this category.
To promote the future workforce of the Texas energy industry, in 2018 the Texas Railroad Commission (RRC) created an energy education workforce initiative with members from the Texas Legislature, the Texas Workforce Commission and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
